Windows 2000, 2003 and XP

What to do when the HARDLOCK KEY is not found by the computer!

Check to make sure the PRO-BELT Hardlock Key has been installed on your computer.

PRO-BELT Versions 4.2 or newer will run on Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, 2003 and XP. Older PRO-BELT versions will not run on Windows 2000 or XP. You must upgrade older versions of PRO-BELT for operation on newer computers. See our Price Schedule page for upgrade information.

The following procedure may be needed to install the Hardlock Key driver on some newer computers, especially 64 bit machines. Use this procedure if the PRO-BELT installation give an error message, or if PRO-BELT will not launch. The install program must be run from a command line. Do NOT double click the hardlock driver install program to run it. Follow these instructions carefully.

1. Make a new folder on your computer hard drive named: C:\HARDLOCK

2. Copy the following files from the folder on the PRO-BELT CD disk dated 2/9/07 or newer or from your PRO-BELT folder on the hard drive. Use Windows Explorer or go to Start - Search if necessary to find them.

hldinst.exe
haspds_windows.dll
hdinst_windows.dll
readme-cmd.html

3. Paste the files to the C:\HARDLOCK folder.

4. PRO-BELT CDs dated prior to 2/9/07 will not contain these updated files, but you can download the files on the Internet. Go to the following web page. Select and download hardlock_driver_cmdline.zip.

Aladdin Knowledge Systems: Support Downloads.

http://www.aladdin.com/support/hardlock/downloads.asp

5. Download file hardlock_driver_cmdline.zip. Double click the file to open WinZip. Extract the files to the folder C:\HARDLOCK.

6. Open the C:\HARDLOCK folder with Windows Explorer. Look for the files listed above. They could be located in a sub-folder named hardlock_driver_cmdline. This is not acceptable. Highlight all of the files and drag or move them all to the root C:\HARDLOCK folder.

7. The hardlock key driver install program must be run from the command line.  Do NOT double click on the exe file because it will give nasty error messages and will not install the drivers.

8. Go to Start - Run.

9. Enter: C:\HARDLOCK\HLDINST -install

10. Notice the space before -install.

11. Click GO.

12. The install program should run and close within a minute without any farther action.

13. Make sure the PRO-BELT hardlock key has been installed on the computer. Launch PRO-BELT by double clicking the icon on your desktop in the normal way. If the program launches to the opening screen your drivers have been installed correctly.
