PRO-BELT on
Windows
Vista, Windows 7, 32-bit, 64-bit, and Other Operating Systems

Detail setup procedures for running
our new PRO-BELT Version 6.0 and 7.0 on
Window 7®, Windows
Vista®,
32-bit CPU, 64-bit CPU, Apple Macintosh®,
and Linux®
computers.
Install Oracle VM VirtualBox® First
Double click on the VirtualBox® setup file on the PRO-BELT CD. This is very easy and quickly completed. You can see the VirtualBox® Manual for detail information but this is not really necessary. The following YouTube® video will show a typical installation. For host computers with operating systems other than Windows, download the proper Oracle VM VirtualBox® from them. It is free on the following website.
How to Install Windows XP on Sun VirtualBox by Britec (Sun is now owned by Oracle).
Oracle VM VirtualBox® User Manual (web page)
Initial Suggested Settings to Select During the Installation:
Ignore all Windows "logo warnings" and click "Continue Anyway." Microsoft doesn't seem to be cooperating with VirtualBox.
Default base RAM memory is 192 MB. Some VirtualBox® users suggest increasing this to 512 MB or more.
Default Virtual Hard Disk settings are OK.
Size 10,240 MB.
Place a check for "Boot Hard Disk (Primary Master)."
Place a bullet for "Create new hard disk."Default Hard Disk Storage Type.
Place a bullet for "Dynamic expanding storage."
Default Virtual Disk Location and Size.
Windows XP.
10.00 GB.Finished.
Note: More than one operating system can be installed in VirtualBox® and the system of choice started as desired.
Install Windows XP in the Oracle VM VirtualBox®
Double click the VirtualBox® icon on the host Window 7® desktop to launch VirtualBox® if it is not running.
Click Settings to select CD/DVD-ROM.
Check "Mount CD/DVD Drive."
Select the host CD/DVD drive location, such as D:. This is very important, otherwise the Windows 7 will read the CD instead of VirtualBox®.
Insert the Windows XP® installation CD in the drive and follow the installation instruction.
Note: Windows XP® take a considerable amount of time for the installation and setup. Be patient and don't stop the procedure.
Windows XP® Full Screen as shown below is best. Right-click the mouse, select Properties, Settings, and the largest screen resolution.
Register Windows XP® as required. This can be done at a later time, if desired.
Install Virus Protection as required. The virus protection software used on the host Windows 7® system can be used in many instances. Symantec Norton 360® is a good choice and allows installation on three computers or three operating systems. The guest Windows XP® in VirtualBox® must have it own virus protection since it operates a complete computer separate from Windows 7®.
Install Registry Software as desired. PC Tools Registry Mechanic 2011® (now a part of Symantec) is a good choice and allows installation on three computers or three operating systems.
Windows XP® Updating is automatic and could occur each time after launch for several days. This is expected and should not be prevented. It is best to leave it running with Internet access to complete the updating.
Next, install the Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack. Launch VirtualBox and minimize it. Use Windows 7 Explorer to find the file and double click. The Extension Pack version number must match the VirtualBox version number.
Upgrading VirtualBox
Upgrade VirtualBox whenever a new version is offered. Download the upgrade from virtualbox.org and download the revised Extension Pack. Install as follows:
Use Windows 7 to locate programs and click to uninstall VirtualBox. This will NOT disturb the installation of Windows XP or PRO-BELT if they are already installed. Install the new VirtualBox upgrade and Extension Pack.
Install PRO-BELT in Windows XP in the Oracle VM VirtualBox®
Please remove all Hardlock Key dongles from the USB ports before continuing. The Hardlock Key will prevent the new drivers from being installed.
Double click the VirtualBox® icon on the host Windows 7® desktop to launch VirtualBox®.
Select Windows XP® and click "Start" to launch Windows XP®.
Go to Windows Explorer. Select the CD/DVD drive.
Double click the PRO-BELT setup file: SetupProbelt6English.exe (or whatever versions were ordered).
Caution! The PRO-BELT installation will pause after installing the program files before automatically launching the installation of the Hardlock Key drivers. Be patient. If several versions of PRO-BELT are to installed, skip the Hardlock Key driver installation after the first version is installed; although, it doesn't matter if it runs again.
Fine Tuning VirtualBox®
Mouse Controls for VirtualBox® have some unconventional commands that must be learned. The mouse must be released from Windows 7 using the Right-CTRL-I combination of right mouse key held down while pressing the CTRL and "I" keys at the same time. If the mouse seems to be blocked from movement around the Windows XP® desktop, press these keys.
Mouse Controls for PRO-BELT have some unconventional commands as well. The MS-DOS® Windows in Windows XP® must be place in the mode without the border by pressing ALT-Enter to toggle it in and out of this mode. The mouse control must be transfer to the PRO-BELT mode in which the arrow pointer disappears. PRO-BELT uses a method whereby the cursor is lock into the menu commands and movement of the mouse moves from command to command. Select the the command with the left mouse key, Enter, or press the first letter of the command. The right mouse key or the ESC key reverses in the menu system and eventually will return to the Main Menu. The PRO-BELT cursor in data input, analysis, and reference screens appears as to be a block moving from cell to cell. The cursor can be moved by mouse movement or with the arrow keys. Use the F1-Help key for cell help messages and the F2 key to edit the cell contents. Only input cells can be modified. The math functions can also be used in the edit or input mode; + for addition, - for minus, * for times, and / for divide. You can enter the math formula and press enter for the result.
USB Hardlock Key Activation must be done before Windows XP® and PIPE-PRO are launched. Go to Devices on the VirtualBox® menu and select USB.
Check "Enable USB Controller."
Check "Enable USB 2.0 (EHCI) Controller."
Check "New Filter 1."
Check "AKS Hardlock USB."CD/DVD Drive Activation
Go to VirtualBox® menu Devices and select CD/DVD. Place a check by the Host Drive D: (or appropriate drive letter for the Windows 7® host). This allows VirtualBox® to use the CD/DVD drive.
Display settings are Video Memory 16 MB and check "Enable 3D Acceleration."
Network and Printers on Windows XP®
The host Windows 7® network and printers are used in a network bridge to Windows XP®. Go to VirtualBox® menu Devices and select Network. Select or change to the "Bridge Adapter". Place a check for "Cable Connected" even though a physical cable is not needed. The printers in the Windows 7® list should also appear in Windows XP®.
Print PRO-BELT to a Local or Network Printer is done by modifying the batch file as described on the web pages listed below in the Technical Support section. Report can also be saved to a text file and opened for printing with WordPad as a Rich Text File. With appropriate PDF software the report can be printed from WordPad to a PDF printer for conversion to a PDF file type. This method is highly recommended for transmitting reports to others by attaching them to email.
PRO-BELT Screen Size is Smaller
PRO-BELT does not fill the entire screen as was done on Windows XP® computers without VirtualBox®. The screen is slightly smaller than life size for the printed report pages. The PRO-BELT width is 6.5 inches (165mm) x 25 lines high, but it is certainly better than trying to surf the web with a 3" (75mm) iPhone® or Blackberry®.

Click the image to see an enlargement.
Note!
Make PRO-BELT fill the screen as shown below.
Go to "View" on the VirtualBox menu. Select: "Switch to Scale
Mode"
This can also be done by pressing Host + C. Host is the CTRL key on the right
side of the keyboard.
Press Right-CTRL + C to toggle to and from full screen mode.

This is the full screen "Scale Mode".

Hard Drives, Folders, and Files
The folders and files for the host Windows 7® computer and the virtual machine are separate systems. Windows Explorer on Windows 7® can neither see nor manipulate the folders and files in Windows XP® on the guest VirtualBox® virtual machine. Drive C on one is NOT the same drive as on the other.
However, some application in Windows 7® can be used to copy and paste text into applications on VirtualBox® Windows XP®. As an example, each has it own WordPad and text can be copied from one to the other.
Mouse Controls are Different on PRO-BELT
If the mouse movement appears to be blocked on VirtualBox, press the "Disable Mouse Integration" command. Press and hold the right CTRL key and press the "I" key, uppercase "I" at the same time. Right CTRL key combination is called "HOST" by VirtualBox. This is called HOST + I. PRO-BELT requires that the mouse pointer be disabled such that mouse movement appears at a bar on the menu system or a moving cell cursor on input pages. Press and hold the right CTRL key while pressing "I" key, uppercase "I".
Screen Control for Window XP
Various options are available in VirtualBox® for the appearance of the Windows XP desktop. Press the right CTRL key and the "Home" key at the same time to see the options. This is call HOST + HOME.
Windows 7 is Always Running Your Host Computer
You can minimize PRO-BELT, Windows XP®, and VirtualBox® to return working in Windows 7® at any time. Both Windows 7® and Windows XP® can be connected to the network or on the Internet at the same time. This setup is like having two computers on your desk instead of one.
